Artist Chickadee

Valerie Pfeiffer's chickadee patterns are so cute and there are so many of them that I would dearly love to stitch!  When I saw this pattern at Canadiana Needlecrafts in Regina, I was delighted to purchase it.  Unfortunately it's been sitting collecting dust for most of the year but I started a couple of weeks ago with the goal of at least trying to get one thread done a day if possible.
If I could just get the little white part on the face stitched today I'd be very, very happy :)
I don't know how many times I tried this summer to get a decent shot of the hummingbirds that are coming to our feeder.  I managed to actually get this one of the female ruby-throated hummingbird perched for a millisecond on a branch.
My patience won out as I eventually managed to snap these two pictures.  The male was too quick for me though.  As fall approaches they will be leaving very soon, perhaps even this week.
What a fabulous, marvelous and amazing little bird they are and I hope they are back buzzing around our feeder next year.

  1. That is going to be a beautiful stitchery! Glad you were able to start it. I just adore the sweet hummers! Nothing like them! Too bad they have to go away till next year.

  4. Love the cross stitch design--it's really adorable. Yeah, just a little bit everyday and you'll soon be finished. Your hummingbird photos are impressive! I haven't seen one in years. Really liked your ATC in the previous post. Interesting techniques and the stitching is lovely.

  7. Very cute stitching project and I like how you have set a goal of stitching one color a day....good way to complete a task! I always enjoy wathcing the hummingbirds, at times it seems as though they will tell you to fill the feeder!

  8. That chickadee is to cute!!! I've been wanting to do some cross stitch lately, something very basic since I don't have much experience, however I need to stay focus to finish some of my wip's first before they turn into ufo's.
