Stiffening Snowflakes
6 crocheted snowflakes happily completed & now undergoing the stiffening process. I like to stiffen using sugar water: equal amount of water to sugar boiled together for a few minutes & then cooled. I pinned them up last night & am looking forward to seeing how they turned out when I get home from work today.

So interesting to see the process after only seeing the final result ... which is excellent by the way :]
ReplyDeleteYour crocheted snowflakes are beautiful and remind me of my Grandma who made them. Blissful creating...
ReplyDeleteLooks good from here. I've heard that sugar water attracts ants....but I haven't had that happen though some have yellowed over time.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your lovely comments. We do have ants in the house but thankfully only in the basement. Maybe once they get a whiff of the sugared snowflakes they'll come upstairs ;)
ReplyDeleteThese are fab Jenny I made some crochet snowflakes and stiffened them with sugar and water but mine were sticky - what did I do wrong??
ReplyDeleteNot sure Maisie. Were they completely dry? What was your water to sugar ratio and how long did you let the sugar water boil? I've always done the 1/2 and 1/2 and have never had any problems with stickiness. Hope that helps?
