EAC is having it's annual artist trading card challenge and since finishing my leaf themed treasure box, I've been inspired to keep the leaf theme going and make leaf atc's The pattern for these came from the Inspirations magazine Issue 67, 2010.
They were all stitched on silk paper made a couple of years ago. I worked the long straight stitches first for the trellis part of the leaf and then at each intersection stitched a small straight stitch. A row of buttonhole stitches and 2 rows of chain stitches form the leaf outline.
Trellis stitch, french knots, straight stitches and stem stitching were used on this leaf.
2 rows of chain stitches form the outline and I'm using stem stitching for the vein.
Love how this sweet little chickadee is perched on top of the skewer that's through the suet on our deck rail :)
She is such a beauty and comes through the yard on just about a daily basis :)
Cubicle Sweet Cubicle - my library home away from home.
Wishing everyone a Delightful Day!!!
Great ATCs, Jeannette! How nice that you made the paper too. I love your deer. The shading on her face is beautiful. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your atc's and the way you have left the silk paper free on the edge.
ReplyDeleteThe unfinished edges of the cards show off the paper to great advantage. Lovely stitching and wildlife.

your pieces are beautiful-did you make your own silk paper? I need to learn how to do that yet. loved all the photos-enjoy your day Kathy
ReplyDeleteI like very much the combo of related motifs. And as a papermaker, I heart the paper!
ReplyDeleteChickadees are too funny. I have S hooks swinging from the tree where I suspend the suet and seed feeder, and they have a great time using it like a playgym.
Wonderful leaves - each so different. Love the little chickadee photo - my favourite birds.
ReplyDeleteYour leaves are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe leaves are inspirational - fabulous colours, especially on the silk paper. You must be so pleased.
