Creative Postcards with My Sweet Prairie

Last week I had the wonderful experience of hosting and taking a creative postcard class with Monika Kinner-Whalen aka My Sweet Prairie.  I finished this branch postcard adding a few french knots and fly stitches.  My zigzag edge is quite uneven but that's because I rarely sew and had never done an edge like this before on anything.
I cut out the red flowers from a scrap piece of fabric and tacked them down with pistil stitches.  The postcard edge is a bit more even on this postcard but not much.
My unfinished basement was the class location and Monika brought plenty of material for all of us to use.
It was a delightful and fun afternoon and I can see that fabric postcards are going to be popping up in my blog now every once in awhile.
There were 7 of us in the class and these were the creative postcards that we made.  Not all were finished when I took this picture.
For hosting the class Monika brought along some of her wonderful prairie fabric postcards along for me to pick from.  This is the one I chose.  She has many more available at her My Sweet Prairie Etsy shop too.

Have a wonderful summer day everyone :)

  5. So nice for you to have a space where you could host the class. That was one room full of creativity! The borders on your PC are fine, don't be so hard on yourself, we are always more critical of our own work than others.
Nice gift for hosting the class!

  11. Postcards are great fun, aren't they. Not a huge investment of time, but big enough to be able to try different techniques. Love the poppy one!
