Woven Owl

Had a lot of fun trying to make an owl by simply needle weaving. I first laid down the warp threads and then using various threads did the weaving. I used mainly #5 perle cotton and boucle threads. The face is worked using the ribbed spider wheel stitch.
Completed woven owl about 10 cm.
Using free motion machine sewing I had a lot of fun making this owl with a rather Napolean looking hair style.
Worked with my mom to get the spuds out of the ground before it freezes.
It was a lovely morning and an excellent potato crop.
I didn't just take pictures - really :)

  20. I have not seen very much of this type of embroidery, so I think you are sending me off on a tangent to search out some examples and maybe some instruction... Lovely work! The machine embroider owl is just as interesting -- after reading your blog I could be 'confined' to my chair exploring ideas, today!
