Today is Hari-kuyo: Festival of Broken Needle Day in Japan. Broken needles are put to rest in cakes of tofu and honoured for all the hard and beautiful work they have done. I didn't break any needles this year or even last year that I can remember but today I will put my needles to rest in their pincushions and be very thankful for all the many hours of pleasure they have given and will continue to give. :)
