Bald Eagle Sighting

This gorgeous bald eagle swooped by the house & settled in a neighbours tree. Thankfully I was looking out the window when he went by.  Although they are often seen in the late fall hunting geese that are still on the lake, this was the first time I had seen one here.
Spotted the eagle again sitting on the ice. There was a small piece of open water nearby with some ducks & seagulls that he was probably eyeing.
Also came across a few mule deer grazing in a stubble field.

  1. It's wonderful to see the wildlife that surrounds us. I often think how marvelous it must have been a couple hundred years ago when the land teemed with wild animals and there were few humans about. I've seen a white-tailed doe in our yard lately, cropping the grass that grows on the forest edge. She's beautiful.

  3. It was & helping to take down a tree & loading up the trailer with firewood on such a nice wintery day made it that much more enjoyable :)

  4. Couldn't agree more Susan and am very thankful that I can get out of the city to enjoy it. We had a young mule deer buck in the yard yesterday evening sporting a small set of antlers. Hope he'll return.
