Black Zipper Flower
I had to try making a zipper flower so I scrummaged through our sewing table & found a long black zipper that we've had for aeons. I made 5 loops which I stitched down onto a round piece of felt on the back, curled up the remaining length of the zipper & voila! It's a little off kilter but I'll make another with the other 1/2 of the zipper & try to get the loops a little more evenly spaced. I still have to put a brooch pin on the back with I'll do with a glue gun.

So pretty! I can imagine it's hard to sew through all layers. Sometimes it helps to use a needle for sewing leather. They have a triangle point and make sewing through layers of thicker fabric easier.
ReplyDeleteThat's a long zipper! I like the metal teeth against the black fabric.....looks good.
ReplyDeleteThat looks cool... almost like marcasite!
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane - not sure what marcasite is but I'll do a google search to find out :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan - I should measure the other length to see how long it is. A shorter one would probably be a bit better.
ReplyDeleteThanks Annet! Great suggestion! I'll definitely try a heavier needle for my next one :)
