Kanzashi Fleurs

Kanzashi is the traditional Japanese art form of folding and stitching fabric petals.  I came across making them on the Joggles website using a simple flower making template.  The small blue one was the 1st one I made & it's a bit on the wonky side but not every flower is perfect right?  The whiteish one I made for my mom as a corsage to wear with her jacket on her 75th birthday party & the multi-coloured petal one I made for my daughter Amy.  I hot glue gunned a small pin clasp on the back of each. They are super easy & fun to make & I hope to try some different petalled ones too. There is also a wonderful book on making these flowers by Diane Gilleland titled Kanzashi in Bloom.

  1. I was just thinking about that book this afternoon! I have it, and I've been meaning to try it out. Now I'm inspired!

  2. They're very pretty. I saw a vid on making them on another blog and they look like fun!

  3. Thanks Diane & Susan! Very fun & easy to make. I'll probably be posting more of them soon.

Thank you very much for stopping by and taking the time to leave me a comment. I appreciate all of them!
