Wanting a 3 dimensional look as well I buttonholed around this flower and stitched it on with french knots. I have 3 more flowers to go and then will add a few stitched bugs.
This is supposed to be the beginnings of a cross stitched robin but I've already made 4 mistakes so we'll see what bird it will be by the time I'm done :)
Grouping of 4 of my owlet accordion books that I've enjoyed stitching.

It always makes my day when a Sharp-tailed Grouse comes into the yard. We've been having -28 Celsius and into the - 30's at night so I am glad to scatter a bit of seed on the ground for the birds.
Happy New Year and wishing everyone a creative and wonderful year!
I love the owl accordion books - such interesting variations. The orange flowers are a great addition - so vibrant. We have just come through two days of 39C, one only dropping to 28C overnight. Water is the issue for our birds. We seem to be paired up on opposite sides of an axis!
ReplyDeleteSeeing all those bright colours (especially the orange flowers) was welcome today - it's bitterly cold outside here too, so seeing something summery is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely work Jeannette. Your applique is looking so beautiful and I love your little owl booklets. I was given two owls for Christmas - a doorstop and a microwavable warmer - they are such a lovely subject. Happy 2015. xx
ReplyDeleteYour going to guess what I'm going to say!! :D The owls accordion books are just adorable!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the 3D flower took, so ingenious ;) The finished piece can only look fabulous xx
What a great idea to attached the 3D flower with French Knots!
ReplyDeleteI love the chain stitching! It's so simple, yet it adds so much. I know my granddaughters would love the owls.
ReplyDeleteThe colors of your chain stitched appliqué are beautiful and I love the owl booklet.
ReplyDeletebeautiful post-I love the owl book and I really love your applique flowers-so pretty
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year JPP! Your flowers add a nice pop of colour to the grey days of winter. Those owl accordion books look like such fun.
ReplyDeleteI love the bright colours of the flowers and your owl book. You have very cold weather, I don't know how we would cope in England with those temperatures as everything comes to a stop when we have a few flakes of snow!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help but giggle at your cross-stitch bird comment. Cross stitch makes me crazy! I am just not 'into' anything that requires counting or that much precision! LOL! Love your colorful flowers :)
ReplyDeleteI am greatly regretting my decision to keep stitching around my mistakes on A Kiss for Snowman, because it is impossible to keep it all straight! Unpick it, is my advice!
ReplyDeleteBut everything else is looking wonderful. I love the colours of your first floral piece, and all the owls are so cute. Might as well sew, when it's so cold outside!
Wonderful aplliques! Cheerful colors too!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Hugs and love from Portugal,

Such sweet owl books!!!!!!! Love them!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnother great bird photograph. Is he very fat or just fluffed up because of the cold? At -28 I am not surprised. I just cannot imagine -28. I am thankful to be in rainy old England. Your lovely bright orange flower is very cheery.
