I signed up for The CQT 2014 Postcard Exchange and decided to work a variety of stitches on silk paper. I'd better get cracking as I need to be done by Friday.
My finished felted landscape piece pinned onto a piece of foam board. I needle felted the flowers and clouds and rolled bits of green felt between my palms for the tree branches.
We were each given pieces of this paper at last months stitchery guild meeting to make into book covers. We were shown the stab binding method and here is my book which I filled by making 10 zentangle leaves:
I drew these on rice paper (poor choice) that I spritzed with ink. They were definitely a lot of fun to draw and I finally used the zentangle book that I had purchased 3 years ago for pattern ideas. There are tons of zentangles on-line as well.
Incredibly, we have a fox den under one of our sheds with one pup. I crept out early one morning and hid behind our rhubarb to see if I could get some pictures. The clicking of my camera was so loud in the quiet morning air that it was no wonder that she is looking at me.
Have a wonderful week everyone :)
Love your tangled leaves!
ReplyDeletelove all your work!
ReplyDeleteyour leaf work is lovely; did you use special type of ink for drawing or is it watercolour on the rice paper?
ReplyDeleteWow, the leaves are beautiful! The pages look so delicate. I really love all of them.
ReplyDeleteFabulous work as always :)
ReplyDeleteYour tangle leaves are wonderful!!! As is your other work...nicely done on the embroidered leaf (1st pic)...hope to see a pic finished
ReplyDeleteAwe, a baby fox!!!!! How awesome!
ReplyDeleteLove your zentangle leaves, both stitched (which is extremely awesome) and the drawn ones for your book! I am a huge zentangle fan and may have to try something stitched like this!!! Thanks bunches for your lovely post!!!
as usual you have shared some lovely pieces, your felted landscape is a real beauty and can see you are loving zentangle, it seems to have caught on worldwide. Lucky to get the fox cub photo, where Mum lived had a den and boy were they noisy at mating time! can remember being woken n the night by terrible sounds.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun looking at everyones interpretation of the maple leaf for the postcard exchange - yours is looking lovely and the subject of a leaf is perfect for you. Love your felted piece. xx
ReplyDeleteSuper sweet work xxx
ReplyDeleteYour leaves are beautiful! I love all your work.
ReplyDeleteYour photo of the baby fox was the perfect way to start my day. You have to smile at such a cute critter. Now, where to start? Your postcard for the swap is going to be stunning. Someone will be very lucky to receive that treasure, in the mail. Your felted landscape is gorgeous and I'm willing to bet, even more so, in person. Thanks for the tips about making the palms. Your book is beautiful and I adore the zentangles. I've played with the technique but nothing, like your leaves, has ever come off the end of my pen. I obviously need more practice. They would also be amazing in black work, of course I'd have to learn to do it, first. Your work is exquisite and I always look forward to the chance to see what you're up too.
ReplyDeleteAlways a pleasure to see your beautiful creations ! And pictures !
ReplyDeleteHave a great day !
Anna
Wonderful zentangling in your leaf shapes. Love the picture of the fox....we have seen one in town twice over the past few weeks and people that live in the area say there is a den closeby. Beautiful animals.
ReplyDeleteI can see you've been busy Jenny! Great photo of the fox - am so surprised you managed to get one.
ReplyDeleteOh! A fox! How wonderful. We have a wren nesting in a basket on the back porch again this year. So far, two little hatchlings that are completely naked with huge bulbous eyes that make them look like something from an alien planet LOL!! Love your zentangle book - wouldn't those be wonderful in stitches?
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Your felted piece is so lovely.....and your book....awesome.....I can def. see some of those designs reworked in beads!! grinning....
