French Knots, Hardanger and Blackwork Owls

 Everyday when I go to work I see this owl logo on a pub called The Lazy Owl.  Here is my Lazy Owl done completely in French Knots :)

I first learned hardanger when I was 18 and used to do a fair bit of it.  Haven't done any for years now though but still wanted to try an owl anyway.  Didn't take long to remember how to do kloster blocks and to wrap threads but my owl turned out to be a rather wonky looking hardanger owl and my buttonhole edging is out of whack too. Oh well, it was fun to stitch anyway :)

 I came across this wonderful free blackwork owl pattern on the Kincavel Krosses website.  It stitched up very easily and I definitely would like to do another. 

 We were busy this past weekend getting firewood for winter. A neighbours tree had unfortunately succumbed to Dutch Elm Disease.

 Had to have my hood up as it was pretty windy and it was bothering my ears.  I'm the branch mover and wood stacker :)

 Love the carpet of gold poplar leaves on the ground.

 We also trekked up into the hills and got another load of wood. 

Last year at this time we had snow which stayed until May so we're certainly enjoying this wonderful long Fall!
