Everyday when I go to work I see this owl logo on a pub called The Lazy Owl. Here is my Lazy Owl done completely in French Knots :)
I first learned hardanger when I was 18 and used to do a fair bit of it. Haven't done any for years now though but still wanted to try an owl anyway. Didn't take long to remember how to do kloster blocks and to wrap threads but my owl turned out to be a rather wonky looking hardanger owl and my buttonhole edging is out of whack too. Oh well, it was fun to stitch anyway :)
I came across this wonderful free blackwork owl pattern on the Kincavel Krosses website. It stitched up very easily and I definitely would like to do another.
We were busy this past weekend getting firewood for winter. A neighbours tree had unfortunately succumbed to Dutch Elm Disease.
Had to have my hood up as it was pretty windy and it was bothering my ears. I'm the branch mover and wood stacker :)
Love the carpet of gold poplar leaves on the ground.
We also trekked up into the hills and got another load of wood.
Last year at this time we had snow which stayed until May so we're certainly enjoying this wonderful long Fall!
My goodness, the countryside where you live is breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteSweet owl :)
ReplyDeleteThe countryside is so beautiful
Hugs x
Your owls are wonderful. You must have quite the collection to frame as an owl collage or something fabulous. Oh yes, the wood collection for winter. Lovely country and you look adorable in your hoodie. I hate the wind and it hurts my ears also. Falling into Autumn Bliss Dear...
ReplyDeleteCute owls. Its years since I had a go at hardanger too, I'd be a bit nervous about doing it as I snipped thru the wrong bit!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a nice place to live.
It's so beautiful where you live. I really love your owls, both are stitching I was unfamiliar with but I always learn so much from your blog.
ReplyDeleteOh, what another lovely set of owls, blackwork one is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteAll of your owls are wonderful but I really like the blackwork owl the best:)
ReplyDeleteThat blackwork owl is absolutely adorable!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitching.. Lovely colors. Hugs Judy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful landscape and good that you are already prepared for winter. You have been very productive with the needle and I love the Blackwork owl!
ReplyDeleteyour owl collection just grows and grows Jenny. Of course the hardanger one is the one that really catches my eye, have never come across one before, will have to try and copy it.
ReplyDeleteGood to see you are getting plenty of wood for your very cold winter
The hardanger owl is my favourite.Normally I gather firewood in summer and save it for rainy season.
ReplyDeleteThe owls you made are very pretty :) I don´t have a favourite because all of them look amazing *_* The pictures of the landscape are great, too.

Just a lumberjack, eh? I did not know there were any elm trees left - they are long gone in Southern Ontario, sadly. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteWhat backing did you use for the French knot owl? It looks like 3 layers there. The blackwork owl is pretty cute too!
Love those owls! I like the colours of your FK one. Let's hope the snow stays away for a long while yet--I have bulbs to plant!
ReplyDeleteyou certainly love your little owls, all of them are great. The views of where you live are beautiful, you are so lucky to have such scenery on your doorstep!
ReplyDeleteI had to look twice to see the French knots! Nice job....my favorite is the blackwork owl...stunning.
ReplyDeleteCutting firewood, they say it is the wood that warms you twice, when you cut it and when you burn it.
I'm seeing owls popping up everywhere these days. What a cutie!
ReplyDeleteI don't like owls but love your Hardanger owl.I might end up liking them after seeing your hardanger and blackwork owls :)
ReplyDeleteI really like all your owls. They have such individual personality! The poplar leaves photo could turn into a great embroidery!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and love your owls. I've never done hardanger but it looks so nice.
ReplyDeleteLove the owl. Hardanger is on my list of things I need to learn how to do.
ReplyDeleteLove all your owls. And thanks for posting those photos of your countryside. I'm from Sk, where part of my heart still is. . . Love the reminders.
ReplyDeleteLove the owls, especially the blackwork. Looks like you live in as lovely part of the world.
