Really enjoyed my first experience playing with a piece of Tyvek. I painted it with metallic acrylic paint and when it was dry, put it between some wax paper and ironed it. It melted and shrunk and got lovely holes in it. I put a section of it on a piece of cloth and did some hand stitching and made this underwater scene atc. It wasn't difficult at all to stitch on and definitely fun to do. :)
Not sure what I'll do with this piece but will let some ideas percolate. Any ideas?
Made a few more chicks for Easter. The pipe cleaner legs are a bit big for the size of the chicks so I either have to make the bodies larger, the legs smaller or not give them any legs at all.
Tatting progress as I work on my tension, reading a pattern and keeping the reverse work straight in my head. I was very happy when I actually made it all the way around and it formed a little doily!
Our MooShoo stretched out in cardboard tube. Such a delightful goofus.
a lovely piece with the tyvek, you put me to shame, I have coloured it in the past and heated it but not gone any further, smack my hand!!
ReplyDeleteDoily turned out beautifully and as for Moo Shoo he is just irrestible!
Just looked up tyvek looks interesting another project to put on my list. Cats just love tubes and boxes.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the Tyvek reminder! I have some envelopes and haven't yet used them, but I had in mind both stitching and painting, and your sample is just wonderful! happy dance here...
ReplyDeleteI was only thinking about tyvek the other day, one of those things on the list I keep meaning to try again. Love your little doily.
ReplyDeleteThe tatting looks great and those chicks are really cute! I have heard of trying to get toothpaste back in the tube, but a cat!?!?! LOL
ReplyDeleteThe tyvek is something I have been wanting to try...I have some samples here and now that you have my curiosity up, I will have to dig them out and play with them.

I love the photo of your lovely little goofus (a word I learned now, didn't know it before and never heard it) Your tyvek experiment is just so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, I forgot to mention the doily - tatted - very, very nice. I am also a trying to be a tatter. And oh, what not....crochet, knit, sewing, trying myself in everything (also tyvek)
ReplyDeleteMooShoo just makes me smile. I adore kitty cats. Lovely Tyvek Sea ATC. I am surprised that you can stitch through the Tyvek.
ReplyDeleteI am truly green with envy at your tatted doily. I keep trying to needle tat and just can't seem to get beyond the first ring. Shuttle tatting was a complete disaster for me. No one in this entire region knows how to tat. I even ask visitors while I am at the Chamber all day. Happy Hearts are Creative Hearts...
You are skilful at so many things! The Tyvec atc and the tatted doily are both delightful but totally different in style. Then you make charming Easter decorations as well... Charming cat!
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable that this is your first attempt on Tyvek - looks wonderful! Lovely chicks and your tatting is great. I alwys admire people who are so skilled in many kind of handicrafts. Your cat is so sweet! Send you sunshine and warmth - hope will arrive :-)!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your lovely comment. Is that 'drizzle' stitch I spy on your tyvek, although it looks fabulous whatever stitches you've used?
ReplyDeleteVery nice...
ReplyDeleteHave a great day trying new crafts !

ReplyDeleteIt makes a perfect underwater scene.

ReplyDeleteI dont know much about Tyvek technique but this piece of art is lovely, reminds me of the beach and summer !
ReplyDeleteYour ATC is very pretty, love the stitches and colours. The tyvek seems very usefull. Your tatting is great and I love the photo of your cat. They always want to hide somewhere, so we cannot find them.
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! What an interesting technique! Never heard of it before! Your cat is so cute!!! Your tatting looks about as perfect as possible! Congrats!!!
