Setting aside the crochet owls I've been working on for the past few weeks, I decided to stitch an owl atc for the Embroiderer's Association of Canada atc swap challenge that's coming up next March. Last year I made 8 for the swap so we'll see if I can do that many again.
When it comes to simple cross stitching I can't believe how many mistakes I make! This is such a small and straight forward little free pattern from Happiness is Cross Stitching that it shouldn't have been a problem! I went from stitching the black with 3 DMC threads down to 2 and then realized my mistake and had to go over the 2 threads with one to fill it in better. There's a small present yet to do that hangs from the cat's tail. Hope I can at least do that perfectly fine :)
Such a memorable delight to have this beautiful and sweet chickadee come to my hand for a sunflower seed. It helped that they were so used to coming to Grant's hand everyday :)
Aww very lovely picture of you and cute bird .
ReplyDeleteLovely stitching on owl x
Love your owl ATC:) Funny co-incidence...I'm making felt ornaments right now...an snowy owl and a chickadee.

Wonderful owl ATC! I do like your black cat stitchery, and how cute the pic of you and your tame chickadee.
ReplyDeleteyour owl works very well on the ATC someone will be delighted to receive it.
ReplyDeleteWondering what is going to b hanging form the cat`s tail. Such a tame little bird to sit on you finger, delightful
When I see that you have posted, my heart does a flip, because I know I am about to see something wonderful, and delightful! Seriously, this is the most adorable and well done owl ATC I have ever seen! Love the close up-ed-ness (sp?) of it! Really awesome! I have just discovered a neat trick with cross stitch, and I am using it in my current piece. I am using 14 count Aida, and am using all 6 strands of floss but only doing one half of the X. Just like this: ///////. It fills in so nicely and it looks like a mini tapestry! Very uniform. Something about cross stitch bothers my brain. I have trouble always ending the X with the top treads all going the same way, and it ends up sloppy. Your kitty is adorable....of course, you are a very accomplished stitcher, and will have a beautiful outcome, for sure!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week!

I like your owl.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to "simple" stitching, one makes much more mistakes.
