A few weeks ago a co-worker asked if I'd stitch a gift for her sister who is going to have major surgery in November. I said yes but have been a bit stressed about it ever since. She asked for something with a butterfly theme and I made this one on felt using machine free motion stitching, bullion stitches, french knots...
Then, panicking that she might not like it I stitched this one up too with lots of lazy daisy stitches and beads. I came across this neat idea from Sweet Bee's blog.
I've e-mailed the pics to my co-worker to see if she likes either of them to give as a gift but haven't heard back from her yet. I have to be okay with the fact that she might not care for either of them and not allow myself to get into a similar predicament in the future.
Both of them are really lovely:)
ReplyDeleteFunny I was just talking about this same issue yesterday with a family member. I stopped doing things such as this for coworkers because it always made me uncomfortable and I didn't like the pressure it put me under. It's was always very difficult to refuse but I just had to do it.
Each of these hand stitched butterflies are beautiful. You did a wonderful job on them. Blissful Butterflies...
ReplyDeleteI think you've created two lovely pieces. It's difficult to make for other people since everyone 'sees' things differently and each person's tastes are unique.
ReplyDeleteI would feel honored to have either one, as they are both exquisite! Done with love and special techniques that are so amazing! You are a wonder!!!!! I am so glad to have found you and your blog, and appreciate all you do! I am going to have to try some free motion stitching for something I am thinking about doing...using a Bible verse...I am wondering if the lettering can be done in that way rather than hand stitching! I like the look on felt!
ReplyDeleteBoth look equally good !!!!!! The idea of making wings with detached stitch is too good. your coworker is going to love this for sure....
ReplyDeletetwo beautiful butterflies Jeanette, I should think your fried has not got back to you because she cannot choose which one to have. The lacy daisy one is very similiar to mine, like you I enjoyed stitching it.

They are both beautiful! Sometimes it's hard to interpret what others have in their mind but I think you have done a simply fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteThey are both very pretty. Regardless what your co-worker decides I think you've done a great job :)
ReplyDeleteIt is always difficult to create for someone else. You never know if he/she will like it. And as there is so much work involved you want to be sure it is appreciated. I suppose it is most important you put all your love in creating. That is the only reward you can be sure of.
ReplyDeleteBoth the butterflies are lovely.Hope your co worker will appreciate them.
